The Planning

The spring of 2012, Rebecca started asking all the Calgary Board of Education science technicians and in June all the technicians at the Science Technologists of Alberta Schools conference, if anyone might be interested in attending the science technicians conference in Perth, Western Australia.  There was some interest and by the end of June, Karen and Scott joined in planning an Australian adventure, which expanded to include the science technicians conference in Melbourne, Victoria.

It is now November, and Scott, Karen, and I have had several planning meetings. We have permission from CBE to travel outside of Alberta to attend these work related conferences, the likes of which, there is nothing comparable in Canada or North America.

We have contacted organizers of the conferences and registered for sessions.  We look forward to meeting these distant fellow science technicians.

Our itinerary is pencilled in and the flights, both international and domestic, are booked.  We will explore in and around Perth and Melbourne, but we also plan to be at Ayers Rock (Uluru) for the re-setting of the Mayan calendar and in Sydney harbour for the New Years Eve fireworks.  The twelve apostles rock formations will be viewed on our drive from Melbourne to Adelaide and the scenery from the roads of Tasmania marvelled at.
